Pickle Wrap Ingredients:
These are simple ingredients that are easy to keep on hand. I’ll give you some options for substituting too….just in case!
- Tortillas: Flour tortillas work best. Make sure they’re fresh so they’ll roll easily. Try low-carb tortillas if you’d like.
- Ham: Replace tortilla with ham to keep it completely gluten-free and keto-friendly. You can also use dried beef if you’d like.
- Cream Cheese: Use full-fat. Reduced-fat has extra water in it and will make the rollups soggy.
- Dill Pickle Relish: An easy shortcut. If you don’t have it chop pickles.
- Grated Cheese: Cheddar, Swiss, Monterey Jack, etc.
- Garlic Powder

How to Make Ham and Pickle Roll Ups

- Mix room temperature cream cheese, pickle relish (or diced pickles), grated cheese, and garlic powder together.
- Blot the ham dry so the cream cheese mixture will stick to it. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the ham slices. You may need more ham one cup of ham to make the wraps this way.
- Roll up the ham jelly-roll style. Wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to overnight.
- Cut ham into pinwheels.
Notes
- To make Ham and Pickle Roll Ups you’ll need more ham. Leave it in whole slices. Use ham slices that are about 1/16 an inch thick so they’ll roll up nicely.
- To make Pickle Roll Ups with tortillas finely dice the ham.
- Monterey Jack
- Pepper Jack
- Cheddar
- Swiss
- Any size tortilla can be used. You’ll need more or less depending on the size of tortillas. I usually use taco-sized flour tortillas and use between 4 and 6.
- Be sure to drain pickle relish in a strainer to remove the liquid. If it’s not drained the pinwheels will get soggy.
- You can use jarred dill pickles. Chop them into small pieces. Dry off with a paper towel.

Would whipped cream cheese work..?
Amy Engberson says
Hi Bonnie! I’ve never tried whipped cream cheese in this cheeseball before. I’m guessing it would work just fine. It will likely be a little softer than regular cream cheese, but that wouldn’t hurt anything either! Let me know how it turns out!
Bonnie J Olson says
Could I usecwhipped cream cheese.
Emily says
How far in advance would you say you could make these without them going bad? I need to make an app 4 days before serving but am afraid of the tortillas getting too soggy. Can these be frozen? Or same problem?
Amy Engberson says
Hi Emily! I’m afraid four days might be a little bit early. I’m guessing two days is about all the earlier you’re going to want to make them. I wouldn’t recommend freezing them either because it will alter the texture of the cream cheese. They are so delicious, I hope you can squeeze them into your schedule!
Trish says
You use a store brand of dill pickle relish or home made?
Amy Engberson says
I always use a store brand of dill pickle relish! Good luck!
KKay says
I’ve made these twice now and they have been devoured both times! They are DELICIOUS! I discovered Deli Dill relish by Mt Olive (bigger chunks, more dill and not as salty) and did a taste test by making 1/2 with regular dill relish and the other 1/2 with the Deli Dill and took them to work…the Deli relish was the winner, although all of them were eaten. Really fantastic recipe. I may try adding thinly sliced salami next time.. Yummo!
Amy Engberson says
Yay! Anything dill pickle is a winner at my house! I’m going to look for that brand of Deli Relish! Sounds yummy! Adding meat is always a good idea! Let me know how it goes!

Hi Amy…I just saw your post on Pinterest. It states that it is Gluten Free. This statement is not true (flour tortillas are not Gluten Free) and should be removed.
Amy Engberson says
Hmmm! Maybe Pinterest labeled it as gluten free. I don’t remember ever saying these are gluten free. I’ll have to check into it. Thanks for letting me know!
