Laundry day is a part of normal life. Everyone does laundry, lots of it. It’s a never ending task. However, it’s a job that just must be done. Laundry is one thing, but this…it’s a whole other story! I’ve learned a few laundry tips along the way.
I do mountains of laundry every week. Let’s face it most Mom’s do. A wash machine is on of those things that when it breaks, we immediately change our plans, head to town and buy a new one! A farm mom just can’t live without one for longer than a few hours. Every Mom has their own method of completing the family laundry duties. Some assign one day a week as laundry day. Others do a little bit everyday. Some never fold their laundry (can’t do that, I would go crazy). Some iron, some don’t. You get the picture we all have our method.
Even though laundry doing is a universal task, it looks a little different to each of us. I’m willing to bet that my laundry pile would win the “Yuckiest Laundry” award though. Pretty much no contest here. No, I’m not proud of this title! But it’s part of farm life and I have to learn to deal with that. Anybody want to wash that shirt before you wash your kitchen towels? Me either!
You know I’m okay with a little poop, yes that is cow poop, on the boys laundry. But when it is in chunks, big falling off the pants chunks, I’m not a fan. I don’t want all that poop to filter through my wash machine. What’s a girl to do?
I could take it to the laundry mat. You know, ruin someone else’s wash machine. Makes you want to use the laundry mat, huh? Or I could use a little different method to prewash my laundry.
What a perfect job for my 7 year old baby! He is the prewash man! Yup, we hose off all the biggest chunks with a hose.
Once he gets the biggest pieces off we hang them on the fence to drip and dry. They are no where near clean. But it’s a good start. And I love having this little boy help because he gets to pick them up while they drip all over him and hang them out. It’s one of those rubber gloves jobs. Don’t even get me started about cleaning out the pants pockets!
This laundry basket was all caught up yesterday morning. I did one batch of work laundry yesterday too. This is still, so far, what I have waiting for me Monday morning. It’s never ending but somebodies got to do it!
In case you were wondering I have an LG front loader wash machine which has washed at least a million loads of heavily soiled laundry. It still works very well. It has been bleach cleaned a million time. And, for the record, I wash in a very particular order so my kitchen towels and underwear are never washed in a wash order any where near the work laundry! Have you ever thought about a wash order? I have! 🙂

Watch for fish heads, I have found them in your brothers pockets before. No wonder I HATE fish.

Fish heads would be terrible! I cringe every time I reach in there!

For us its not what is found in the pockets pants its the crazy things you miss that end up having you rewash a load 😉

Laura it’s things like chap stick, gum and pens that can ruin your whole day when they are left in the pockets! Gotta love laundry!

You should do a post on what things you have found in the pants pockets!

I’m constantly finding crazy things in pants pockets, Emily! Thank goodness the most common thing is empty candy wrappers!
