I shared this recipe years ago on my friend Kristin from Elle Clair Inspired Blog! Peanut Butter Caramel Pretzel Bark is pretty much what it sounds like…a whole bunch of yumminess in one super easy to make, and pretty bark! You might want to add this to your Christmas baking no baking list this holiday season! Actually it’s a perfect easy treat all to make year long!
Do you guys ever get the to point where you feel like your pantry and fridge are overflowing with food. When my pantry is chockful of chip bags, cracker boxes, cold cereal bags, and chocolate milk containers that only have about a cup of food left in them I start getting a little ancy. Something inside of me gets claustrophobic and I have to clean them up.
I feel bad about complaining because I’m really blessed to have such an abundance of food. We’re never hungry around here and I know there are many who aren’t as fortunate.
Even though I get to the point when I just have to clean out the pantry I just can’t let myself throw that food away. It just doesn’t seem like the right thing to do and the frugal side of me won’t allow it.
So what’s a girl to do? Make Peanut Butter Caramel Pretzel Bark with all the pretzels from the bottom of the bag. It’s a great way to polish of the rest of the jar of peanut butter, and the end of the chocolate chips bag too! Ahhh! I’m already starting to feel better!
Here’s what we do when we make Peanut Butter Caramel Pretzel Bark!
Before you start make sure you have all your ingredients ready.
Crush pretzels just a little bit.
Gather peanut butter, butter, caramel bits, and chocolate chips.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or greased aluminum foil.
Melt chocolate chips in the microwave. It’s easy to do. Just melt them in 30 second intervals, at half power, stirring after each interval. Keep melting until they are smooth.
Spread them on the prepared baking sheet.
Microwave peanut butter and butter at half power for 30 seconds. Stir. The peanut butter should be pourable. If it’s still thick, continue microwaving at 15 second intervals until it is pourable. Drizzle melted peanut butter over the chocolate layer.
Microwave caramel bits and milk at half power for one minute. Stir. If caramel is not completely melted and smooth, continue to microwave for 20 second intervals until smooth. Drizzle over chocolate and peanut butter layer.
Using a knife, gently swirl all the layers together. Be careful not to over swirl. Or skip the whole swirling step and leave it just as it is! I’m all about easy you know!
Sprinkle crushed pretzel over bark. Press into the bark with the back of a pancake turner. Sprinkle bark with sea salt if you really want to accentuate that salty sweet flavor. I can’t get enough of it!
Set in refrigerator to cool. Break into pieces.
So next time your pantry is overflowing with odds and ends crush them up and stick them in this bark! Trust me…you will be glad you did! Not only will you feel better about your pantry but you’ll want to devour all those leftovers!
