Ingredients

  • 2 pounds round steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 8 ounces can of tomato sauce
  • 6 ounces can of tomato paste
  • 14.5 ounces can of stewed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce

Instructions

  • Spray a slow cooker with cooking spray or use a disposable slow cooker liner.
  • Dice onion. Drain tomatoes, Slice steak as thinly as possible. See tip below.
  • Add sliced steak, onions, drained tomatoes, and the rest of the ingredients to the slow cooker. Stir to combine.
  • Cook in slow cooker for 4-5 hours on high or 8-10 hours on low.
  • Serve over rice, baked potatoes, or pasta.
  • Garnish with grated cheese and chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

Round Steak: A round steak is a great option for this recipe because it's a less expensive cut of meat. You can also use cubed steak or any kind of beef roast sliced thinly.
Slicing Beef: It's easier to thinly slice beef when it's slightly frozen. Set it in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes before slicing.
