This Chocolate Pretzel Bites post has been compensated by my friends from Rhodes! As always all thoughts and opinions are my own! #frozendough #Rhodesbread
Chocolate Pretzel Bites are the pretzel bite for those of us that are completely addicted to fresh baked bread and chocolate! They are have that amazing chewy center and buttery and outside plus they are sprinkled in chocolate sugar! If you are really serious about chocolate you are going to love them dipped in chocolate cream cheese frosting! They are a fuss free recipe for making those pretzel bites from the mall at home!
Whenever I go to the mall I have to have some serious self control if I’m going to walk past the pretzel stand and not stop by for a treat! I usually do pretty good at containing myself unless one of my kids is with me (yes that includes my husband)!
For some reason they know how to make me weaken. I’m mean really how am I supposed to hold strong and not have a few pretzel bites when they are walking around devouring pretzel bites pretty much not even paying attention to shopping at all!
Well, you know what. Maybe I’m not really sad about weakening that much because those things are really good! My boys loathe going to the mall, like a lot! The only time they go is when they are shopping for me at Christmas time and I’m not invited for that trip. I’m sure they eat plenty of pretzel bites without me, while they are trying to find a good deal on something they think I’m going to fall in love with!
Like I said, I never buy those pretzel bites when I’m by myself and since we don’t ever go to the mall with each other I’m pretty much out of luck when it comes to getting pretzel bites unless I make them myself!
The other day I decided I’d try making Chocolate Pretzel Bites at home! OMG! That was a good idea! The mall doesn’t have anything on me! My pretzel bites are every bit as scrumptious and dare I say even easier to make than shopping is! Hey…shopping is a lot of work!
Using Rhodes frozen dough to make Chocolate Covered Pretzel Bites makes the whole process super quick and easy! It gives them that amazing soft, chewy center without the fuss of having to make homemade bread. Such a timesaver!
The bites are generously sprinkled with cocoa sugar! And if you are a die hard chocolate fan you can dip them in the creamy chocolate cream cheese frosting! No shame! No judging by me!
My point is ditch the mall, make your own Chocolate Pretzel Bites! If you are missing your shopping you could always hop online and eat Chocolate Pretzel Bites in your pajamas! Now that’s my kind of shopping, and my kind of snack!
We are smack dab in the middle of the holidays which means parties are still happening everywhere! Chocolate Pretzel Bites are just right for the big game, parties, or even breakfast!
Chocolate Prezel Bites
Ingredients
- 1 loaf Rhodes frozen bread dough thawed according to package directions
- 1 egg
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 T. cocoa
- ½ c. baking soda
- 1/3 c. butter melted
- Frosting:
- Cream cheese about ¼ brick
- Powdered Sugar
- 1-2 T. cocoa
- Milk
- vanilla
Instructions
- Let frozen dough rise according to package instructions.
- Make egg wash mixture by beating egg with about 1 T. cold water. Set aside.
- Make cocoa sugar by mixing sugar and cocoa together in a container. Shake to combine. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Roll dough out to about ¾ inch thick. Cut into 3/4 inch wide strips. Then cut strips into 1 ½ inch long pieces.
- Bring 3 quarts of water to a boil. Gradually, add baking soda. Make sure you add it very gradually so it doesn’t bubble over.
- Boil pretzel bites in batches (about 15 bites per batch) for 30 seconds per batch.
- Remove bites from boiling water with a slotted spoon. Set on a paper towel lined plate to dry a little.
- Remove from paper towel lined plate and set on a greased baking sheet.
- Brush pretzel bites with egg wash mixture.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes.
- Microwave butter in a large microwaveable bowl until melted. Toss baked pretzel bites in butter.
- Remove from butter and toss in cocoa sugar to coat. Place sugared pretzels on a serving plate.
- Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, cocoa, milk, and vanilla together to create a frosting for dipping. I don’t usually measure. Add more milk or powdered sugar to get the right dipping consistency.
- Serve pretzels with cream cheese frosting!

These not only look delicious but they also look like they were alot of fun to make! I enjoyed reading a little about your farm life too. Living in a city, one longs for that type of life at times …..
Amy Engberson says
I can only imagine how living in the city would make you long for farm life! I love going for jogs and not seeing a single person while I’m out, I like being able to walk to the garden in my bathrobe without anyone seeing, and I enjoy being able to see the sunsets at night and sunrises in the morning. It is a great way to raise our boys! I’m happy you stopped by!
